Signs Your Thomasville Home Has A Hidden Water Leak.

3/31/2021 (Permalink)

Latex paint on this wall appears to be blistering or "bubbling" due to water damage.

Water travels the path of least resistance, and sometimes you can’t see that pat. That’s why it’s so important you know the signs of a potential water leak. If a water leak goes undetected for too long, it could cause thousands of dollars in damage to your Thomasville home.

Signs to Look For

  • Discoloration: Sudden stains on your ceilings or walls could be a sign of some water leak or damage. Some of the most common issues we see are leaky pipes, hot water heaters, or roof damage leading to water leaks.
  • Odd Musty Smells: The moisture may be invisible, but that moisture is a perfect breeding ground for mold. An unusual smell you can’t easily identify is a red flag you have a moisture problem and should contact an expert.
  • Obvious Mold Growth: Mold can grow anywhere and practically on anything as long as moisture is present. So, if you see mold growing somewhere in your home, you have a serious moisture problem.
  • Pealing or Blistering Paint: Another sign of water damage is peeling or blistering paint. When drywall becomes saturated, paint loses its adhesion, and it can peal. Latex paint may appear to have “bubbles” behind it, but that’s just water forcing the paint off the surface of the drywall.

Water damage is easy to spot once you know the signs. If you have seen one or more of these signs, give our IICRC certified-trained technicians a call at (336) 224-2565.
